Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University – one of the leading institutions of higher education in Ukraine – was founded in 1940.


Our vision: Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University is a modern competitive educational and research center of international level, the potential of which affects the development of the region and the formation of human capital.

 

Our mission:

  • education – providing quality educational services aimed at training highly professional specialists;
  • science – formation of a modern research university – a center for the generation of innovative ideas and their implementation;
  • region – the direction of educational and scientific potential for the development and strengthening of the region.

 The University is accredited with the highest, IV level of accreditation.

 Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University occupies high positions in international and domestic rankings of higher education institutions. According to the international SciMago Institutions Rankings, the University ranks 2nd (2021) among Ukrainian universities, 7th in the U-Multirank International Ranking (2021), 10th in the “Best Classical Universities” (2021), 10th in the international ranking SCOPUS (2021), 10th in the TOP-10 ranking among classical universities of Ukraine, 12th in the Webometrix Ranking of world’s universities, 20th in the ranking of the most influential universities in the world (2021), 23rd in the “TOP-200 Ukraine 2021” ranking.

Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University trains specialists in 7 specialties of junior bachelor’s degree, 82 specialties and educational programs of the bachelor’s level, 70 specialties and educational programs of the master’s level, 25 specialties of preparation of doctors of philosophy, 18 specialties of preparation of doctors of sciences, conducts a fruitful research and innovation activity. Over 140,000 specialists were trained at the institution of higher education during its entire period of activity.

The University maintains close ties with many scientific and educational institutions of the world, including the USA, Asia and the EU. Implements 12 free double degree master’s programs with leading universities of the Republic of Poland.

The University is a member of international consortia: member of Consortium of Warsaw and Ukrainian Universities (2006); member of the European Association of Universities (2010); member of the International Consortium of Universities (2015); member of the Consortium of Universities of the Baltic Sea Region and Ukraine (2015); member of the International University Community “One Belt – One Road” (2016); member of the Great Charter of Universities “Magna charta universitatum” (2018); member of the European University Alliance EDUC (European Digital UniverCity) (2022).

The network of cooperation with foreign partners is actively developing: more than 80 agreements on cooperation with universities and organizations from different countries of the world have been signed.

Every year, the University implements educational, scientific and infrastructural grant projects, developing its scientific potential, improving the educational process and influencing the development of the region.

The University operates a joint educational and scientific laboratory of the physics of magnetic tapes together with the Institute of Metallophysics named after G.V. Kurdyumov of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, which has the status of National Property of Ukraine.

The scientific infrastructure of the University is represented by 23 educational and scientific centers, the International Scientific Center “Observatory”, the National Contact Point of the EU program Horizon – 2020 in the direction “Nanotechnologies, modern materials and advanced modern productions”, the Scientific Park “Precarpathian University”, the Botanical Garden, the Arboretum “Druzhba”, the scientific library, 2 interdepartmental laboratories, 10 scientific laboratories and the Center for collective use of scientific equipment.

International projects are being successfully implemented – the State Investment Project “Construction of the International Center for Meetings of Student Youth of Ukraine and the Republic of Poland” (Mykulychyn Village, Ivano-Frankivsk region) and the project “International Scientific Center “Observatory” on Mount Pip Ivan” (Pip Ivan, Chornohirskyi ridge) , Carpathians), which is implemented with EU grant funds.

Structure of the University:

11 faculties – the Faculty of Foreign Languages, the Faculty of Psychology, the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics, the Faculty of Economics, the Faculty of Physics and Technology, the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports, the Faculty of Pedagogy, the Faculty of Philology, the Faculty of History, Political Science and International Relations, the Faculty of Natural Sciences, the Faculty of Tourism;

4 institutes – Educational and Scientific Law Institute, Educational and Scientific Institute of Arts, Kolomyia Educational and Scientific Institute (Kolomyia), Institute of Postgraduate Education and Pre-University Training, 1 college – Ivano-Frankivsk Vocational College of Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University.

Other structural subdivisions – Educational and Scientific Center for the Quality of Educational Services and Distance Learning, Information and Computing Center, Sports and Health Complex “Smerichka”, 2 museums, stadium “Nauka”, sports complex “Olymp”.

77 departments function at the University, among the scientific and pedagogical staff of which there are 174 doctors of science, professors. Professor V. I. Lushchak is included in the ranking of the 50 best scientists of Ukraine, associate professors O. V. Lushchak and G. M. Kubrak – in the ranking of the 50 best young scientists of Ukraine.

Teachers and students were among the first in Ukraine to start protest actions, which grew into the Revolution of Dignity.  The student of the Faculty of Philosophy, Roman Huryk, “Hero of Ukraine” (posthumously) became the hero of the Heavenly Hundred.

Today, the University implements a number of socially responsible projects aimed at improving working conditions for employees, the conditions and quality of education for applicants, as well as the development of Prykarpattia region.
